Collaboration Guide

Co-Authoring &
Saved Templates.

Formu-Letter saves templates directly into your Excel workbook, ensuring they travel with your data. Here is how it works with team collaboration.

The Short Version

"Last Write Wins"

If two people are editing the Formu-Letter template at the exact same time, the person who stops typing last will overwrite the other person's changes. We do not merge template edits.

🔁

How Auto-Save Works

To prevent data loss, Formu-Letter auto-saves your template every few seconds while you type. These changes are sync'd through Excel's native co-authoring engine.

👥

The Scenario

If User A and User B edit simultaneously, User B's save (if slightly later) will overwrite User A's changes. Only one person should actively edit the template at once.

📜

Version History

Because templates are in the .xlsx file, you can recover overwritten templates using Excel's built-in File > Info > Version History feature.

Tips for Teams

Communicate Structural Changes

Let your team know before making major layout changes so you don't clash with others.

One Editor at a Time

While many can safely send emails at once, keep template editing to one person at a time.
